University of Rhode Island It is proposed that a model ofconflict resolution based on communication theory constitutes an effective approach to the learning ofskills in conflict management. In thisframework, it may become possible to change negativeperceptions through cognitive processes as a basis for acquisition of conflict resolution skills.
