This study examines, by means of a quasi-experimental design, the impact of a variety of methods involving humanistic, didactic, and experiential modalities in training students—potential health professionals—in empathy-sensitivity and interpersonal skills. An eclectic, multimodal approach using audiovisual technology, role playing, observation, and discussion was found to be most effective in raising levels of sensitivity.
